Location of Project: Greencastle, Indiana on CR 200 S over the CSX Railroad
Services Provided: Topographic/Route and Right of Way Survey, Design for the new road alignment, Right of Engineering Plan Development including Legal Descriptions and Land Plats
Description of Project: This is a new bridge and is a three span (9400, 12200, 9400) on tangent continuous concrete slab type bridge on a 9 degree skew approximately 102 feet in length.. The substructure was a cap/column type pier with railroad crashwall and integral end bents. Foundation was on piling.
The west road approach included two 10 foot lanes and 2 foot shoulders and the east road approach included an urban section with two 10 foot lanes and combined curb and gutter. The total length of the road approaches were approximately 700 feet. The project also included railroad coordination, existing bridge demolition, striping, vertical MSE wall abutments, clearing, public road approaches, sidewalk and ADA ramp, railroad crash-walls, concrete slopewall, maintenance of traffic, private drive approaches, erosion control and utility relocations. Steel H-piles were used in conjunction with the foundations noted above.
The design complied with all INDOT standards and procedures. The construction cost for this project was estimated at $700,000 and was entirely locally funded. PCS was the prime consultant for this project.
