Fall Creek & White River Tunnel

Location of Project:  Indianapolis, IN

Services Provided:  Topographic, Utility Interference, Construction Layout and Location Control Route Surveying.

Description of Project: The Owner is implementing a Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) to address combined sewage overflows (CSO). Included in the plan are provisions for a series of consolidation sewers, drop shafts and a tunnel to capture 97 percent (two overflows per year) and 95 percent (four overflows per year) of overflows along Fall Creek and White River, respectively. The Fall Creek/White River Tunnel System (FCWRTS) will store combined sewer flows during rainfall events, accept flows from the Lower Pogues Run Tunnel (LPgRT) and extend to join the Deep Rock Tunnel Connector (DRTC). The FCWRTS Tunnel is planned to extend from the Indiana State Fairgrounds area along Fall Creek to near outfall CSO 118 close to the intersection of West Street and White River Parkway along White River. Recommend final main tunnel, consolidation sewer and connection tunnel sizes, alignments, depths and grades. Evaluate and refine drop shaft locations and confirm consolidation sewer routes.
